Burning Tips 2

 Burning Tips and Candle Safety

  • Before lighting, always inspect candle for debris. If there is any debris within the candle, remove prior to lighting.

  • Always trim the wick between 1/8 to 1/4 inch prior to lighting. The wick should never exceed 1/4 inch.

  • Keep wick centered to prevent flame from touching container.

  • If candle is smoking, carefully extinguish the flame by using a candle snuffer. Trim the wick and relight. Check to ensure candle is away from drafts, ceiling fans and vents.

  • Always keep candles away from pets, children and anything flammable. Always burn candles within sight.

  • To prevent the candle from tunneling down the center, candles should burn for 1 hour per inch of container diameter. For example, a 2 inch diameter candle should burn for 2 hours.

  • Never leave burning candle unattended.

  • Never leave candles burning for greater than 4 hours at a time.

  • Always burn candles on appropriate, heat resistant surface.

  • If candle container is cracked or broken, discard. Do not burn candle in a broken or unusable container.

  • Candle containers, candle flames and liquid wax are hot. Never touch a container or wax after the candle has been lit.

  • Never extinguish candle by blowing out the flame. This could splatter hot wax or wick embers. Always use candle snuffer or wick dipper to extinguish flame.

  • Discontinue use of candle when only 1/2 inch of wax remains in the container.
